Glory to God in the Highest

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gloria_in_Excelsis_Deo

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life - John 3:16 (NIV)

Mummy says that we must always remember to give thanks to God at all times ... why ? Cos it is only with God's blessings that we live each day on this earth. Some days may be crappish but why should we let crap get at us ? :D ... Easier said than done - but it is only with God's help that we become overcomers !

Yay !

Ok, Mummy says that it high time I share with everyone what happened to me a year ago from today ...

Last year, 2007 at this time, which was the 9th day of CNY ... (on the 8th day - 26 Feb 2007, I came back from my babysitter's house reeked with the smell of joss sticks and ash), I was down with fever for the 1st time ... Mummy took me to see my ordinary GP and was treated with paracetamol ...

I went back to the babysitter but my fever could not come down - it came on and off and was in the range of above 39 degrees Cel and I was having diarrhea ... the babysitter was afraid and told Mummy that I should go see doctor again ... after 3 days of fever, I suddenly developed rashes all over my groin areas, tummy and face ... I really looked horrid (like a clown) ... on the 4th morning at 4am, I couldn't breathe properly and Mummy rushed me to the Emergency Ward and there was an idiot doctor who wanted to give me steroids but Mummy said "No" ...

I had to wait to go back and see my GP again and this time he too was shocked to look at me and quickly advised Mummy to admit me to the hospital if things were not controlled ... that night, the fever came back together with rashes and diarrhea and Mummy decided to admit me to Sunway Medical Centre (the hospital where I was delivered) http://www.sunway.com.my/sunmed/about.htm ...

Thank God that the doctor that Mummy requested for was on call that night and so I had been warded into good hands ... I couldn't take any milk or fluids as I kept vomitting and diarrhea-ing ... the doctor decided to insert a tube inside my nose into my tummy to feed me but that too did work as i puked all the time ... I was very, very cranky by then ...

It was just scary and I had to take blood tests - unfortunately i was a chubby babe then and the doctor just had difficulty finding a vein ... after the blood tests, it was confirmed that I had the dreaded Kawasaki Disease !!

I had all the symptoms:

- severe redness in the eyes
- a rash on the stomach, chest, and genitals
- red, dry, cracked lips
- swollen tongue with a white coating and big red bumps
- sore, irritated throat
- swollen palms of the hands and soles of the feet with a purple-red color
- swollen lymph nodes

I had to go through another round of pricking (Papa said it was more than 50 attempts when the doctor finally got a vein on my foot) so that I could start the IVIG (a treatment of intravenous doses of gamma globulin - purified antibodies) treatment.

After the 1st dose of 7 bottles were taken, I seemed to be on the road to recovery but the fever recurred :( ... doctor said a 2nd dose had to be administered ... half way, the vein on my foot gave way and I had to be pricked again - this time doctor found a good vein on my hand ...

Thank God, I was ok after the 2nd dose of another 7 bottles of IVIG - i was treated daily with a high dose of aspirin to reduce the risk of heart problems.

After about 10 days, I was discharged but had to be on asprin for many months ahead and had to go back for heart echo tests ... I had lost lots of weight by then. All the normal vaccinations had to be delayed also ...

It was only after 6 months - after "that" terrible day that I got the clean bill of health from doctor off the KD could Mummy and Papa breathe better ... I had a heart echo review done only last month and doctor says that everything's normal :D

I want to thank God for preserving my life and also I want to acknowledge the Lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ over my life ! All Glory to God ! All Glory to God ! All Glory to God !

So, if you want to know more about the Kawasaki Disease, a good website will be Kawasaki Disease Foundation http://www.kdfoundation.org/
Please read it.

The cause(s) of the Kawasaki Disease remain(s) unknown till today but the number is on the rise, so please tell all your friends about it and be educated as this is an urban phenomena. Thank you.

MMR Vaccination

I had a really bad night last night ! I couldn't sleep but was extremely tired ... I was cranky but just can't quite nail down what's troubling me !!! I was hungry but don't want my milk ???

Funny that I was very ok and normal earlier - Let's retract ... couple of reasons could be -

a) hyper-activity at Grandpa's birthday celebration last night - I was running around non-stop

b) I had the MMR vaccination on Saturday

But reseach pin points to the side effects coming on after a week to 10 days after the MMR vaccination ? Huumph ! Then what's troubling me ? http://www.mmrthefacts.nhs.uk/library/mmrsideeffects.php

I had completed the 3 doses of pneumoccocal vaccination and that was not so tough http://www.pneumococcal.org/ ... ai ...
Father God, please bless me. Ps. 91

Brushing Your Teeth

I am 15-months old now and should start to brush my teeth ... Papa bought me the Teach-Me-Toothbrush some time ago but didnt let me practise brushing my teach ... Lazy Papa !

Teacher at Daycare told my Mummy that she will teach me how to brush my teeth ... so i hope i will learn and cultivate this very helpful and important practise and eventually make it a healthy habit.

As for baby's toothpaste, this has been a great concern for medical practitioners - Papa + Mummy's dentist recommends First Teeth which is milk-enzyme based .... however, Mummy dare not try it with me as I am lactose intolerant ?

Nevertheless, please brush your teeth twice a day for all teeth-having folks :)

Rainy Days and Mondays

Talkin’ to myself and feeling old
Sometimes I’d like to quit
Nothin’ ever seems to fit
Hangin’ around, nothing to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

What I’ve got they used to call the blues
Nothin’ is really wrong
Feelin’ like I don’t belong
Walkin’ around some kind of lonely clown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Funny, but it seems I always wind up here with you
Nice to know somebody loves me
Funny but it seems that it’s the only thing to do
Run and find the one who loves me

(*)
What I feel is come and gone before
No need to talk it out
We know what it’s all about
Hangin’ around, nothing to do but frown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Funny but it seems that its the only thing to do
Run and find the one who loves me
Repeat (*)

Hangin’ around, nothing do to but frown
Rainy days and Mondays always get me down

Do any of you ever have days like those ? Ai ...
Niways, just telling myself to hang on in there ...

Kids Eat for FREE

I have been to this place twice cos my Papa says that i get to eat for FREE :)) http://www.fridays.com/index.htm
So far i love their fish and chips for kids as compared to the other place which my parents have taken me - Chilis Restaurant (not so great food for kids).

Niways, TGIF have lovely 3-course meals at RM39.00++ for adults ... go see and choose for yourself.

I have also noticed that many parents actually bring their kids to eat there for free ... so parents out there, check out this option especially if you have have many kids :P

2008 is the Year of the Rat in the Chinese Lunar Calendar

Waahh, can't believe it that today is the 8th day of the Chinese New Year already.
This Chinese New Year is much more meaningful for me as I could participate in the events taking place.
CNY Eve:
As usual, the eve of CNY was spent at Grand-Uncle and Grand-Auntie's place together with my Great-Grandpa. It was kinda boring as there were no one there to play with me - except for my 9 year old Uncle, but he too is too adult for me.
However, Mummy decided to take me to Nen-ngu's house this year - and yay, there are Khor-khor and Cheh-chehs there (and not forgetting their big box of toys which I could rummage through freely) ... oh, oh my Ee-Ee will also be there too !! Hooray :D
But Papa decided to leave after an hour and I was throwing a trantrum to have to leave so early. However, Mah-mah says that I can come back on the next day which is the 1st day of the new year ... huumph !
1st day of the Chinese New Year:
Saw Papa and Mummy taking me back to Grand-Uncle and Grand-Auntie's place to serve tea to Great-Grandpa. Apparently that is the tradition they keep for the younger generation.
Then we went to Nen-ngu's house for lunch ...
2nd day of Chinese New Year:
As there was no where to eat, we plonked ourselves at Nen-ngu's house again with anticipation of good food cooked by Mah-mah ... heh, heh.
3rd day of Chinese New Year:
Ahh, Nen-ngu treated us all to a very nice sumptous Chinese Dinner at a restaurant. It was sooo noisy and boisterous that I couldn't wait to get out of there ... funny isn't it that the Chinese love such a setting for their meals ??
Hmm, what was served in the menu ?
1) Yee Sang
2) Shark's Fin Soup
3) Roasted Chicken
4) Toufu + Gourd
5) Steamed Fish
6) Marmite Prawns
7) Mixed Vegetables + Oyster
8) Lap Cheong Steamed Rice + Waxed Duck
9) Longan + Sea Coconut Desserts
10) Blackbean Buns
And I only enjoyed the Shark's Fin Soup, the rest are just too advanced for me.
7th day of Chinese New Year (yesterday):
The 7th Day of the New Year is called "everybody’s birthday" as everyone is considered a year older as of that date. (In traditional China, individual birthdays were not considered as important as the New Year’s date. Everyone added a year to his/her age at New Year’s time rather than at his/her birthday.)
8th day of Chinese New Year (today):
This day is especially important to the Hokkien and Teochew speaking community. Come midnight of the 8th day of the new year, the Hokkiens and Teochews will offer thanks giving prayers to the Emperor of Heaven. Offerings will include sugarcane as it was the sugarcane that had protected the Hokkiens from certain extermination generations ago. Such is what legend says.
Lord Jesus, Mummy says to give thanks to you for protecting me at this period of time. Please bless me with your blessings and protection. Amen !
