Welcome 2010

Another 12 months have gone by and my Mummy is just happy the see 2009 go ... it had been a bad rough year for her. She is just happy and relieved that she has seen the end of it and still standing strong.

So what are the new year resolutions for me ? I only have two - Grow up strong and healthy and be a good girl.

Some helpful guidelines to making new year resolutions:
1. Choose the Right Resolution
2. Create a Plan
3. Stay on Track
4. Remain Flexible and Keep on Going

And one very important key guideline is to keep close to God to see you through !

Christmas Eve Dinner 2009

This is my 1st Christmas Eve Dinner at church. It was pot-bless event where everyone brought something to share with everyone. I get to go for free cos I was sponsored :D ...

And the best part is I got so many gifts (all surprised me) :
1) Aunty Foong Ling - Fishing erasers
2) Aunty Veronica - Barbie stationery
3) Cheh2 Jacky - Goodies party pack
4) Aunty Bee - books for Mummy
5) Aunty Sharon - VCD & water container
6) Aunty Annette - Building Blocks & bucket
7) Por-Por Alice - Christmas blouse
8) Neng-nging - vitamin gummies

I got very comfortable with everyone especially with "Uncle" Peter ... seems like I just grew up and no longer felt wary of him anymore ... "Uncle" Peter said that I melted his heart when I held his hand and lead him up to the pulpit :) ...

Lord Jesus, thank you for coming to earth to die on the cross for me.

Chinese Winter Solstice - Dong Zhi

22 Dec every year is said to be the Chinese Winter Solstice Festival (also known as Dong Zhi). Tang Yuan or glutinous rice balls will be made as a sweet treat among the Chinese community.

Neng-nging made some glutinous rice balls last weekend and I had them as desserts after dinner. She made them plain and tossed them into peanut powder. This is how it was done back home and not the usual way of preparing tang yuan (boiled and eaten together with sweet soup). It was fun eating the glutinous rice balls with toothpicks together with everyone. Mummy wasn't around to enjoy the sweet treat :P ... too bad, she had to give it a miss.

It is said that many elderly people regard Dong Zhi as a reminder that we are now a year older and should behave better in the coming year !

Here is an interesting website on the history of Dong Zhi: http://www.netglimse.com/holidays/dong_zhi/history_of_dong_zhi.shtml

Pre-Christmas Party

Ms. Kitty hosted a pre-Christmas Party in school today and invited many of us over. I had the chance to enjoy the Christmas goodies prepared.

After the party's over, Ms. Kitty brought me over to her church for another round of partying. Talk about pub-hopping ... here I am party hopping :)

Well hope your weekend had been good as mine was.

Jigsaw Puzzle Games for Cognitive Skills Development

Jigsaw puzzles have been around for a long time and is said to be a truly educational toy for toddlers, preschoolers and even preteen kids. Jigsaw puzzles are considered to be a more superior child educational toy compared to the most recently-developed ones. The superiority of jigsaw puzzles lie in the fact that they offer a range of educational value for a minimum cost.

How jigsaw puzzles can enhance children's development ?
1) develop shape/size recognition and matching ability (spatial skills)
2) improve hand-eye coordination since children will have to fit the jigsaw pieces into the board properly
3) develop logical thinking (problem solving and reasoning)
4) enhance spatial relation skills
5) develop pre-reading skills by enhancing the ability of children to recognize shapes
6) develop perseverance attitude since children will have to persevere to be able to complete the child jigsaw puzzle
7) enhance social skills as putting jigsaw pieces together with friends and famiy will always be a fun activity

And .. last but not least, jigsaw puzzles can be used to develop the language skills by talking about the pictures with children :)

My Favorite Latest Snack - Caplico Stick

Snacking is said to be bad for kids but my Mummy has not been good. Today, I requested the chocolate flavored Caplico stick from Mummy and she bought me one :) ... yay !

It all started couple weeks ago when Mummy introduced me to Caplico stick by Glico. It was a rather odd looking snack - sort of cornetto-looking chocolate cone. It has no ice cream, instead it has bubbly textured strawberry/chocolate in the centre of the cone.

As shown on the box, there were 5 individually packed wafer cones, and in that had bubbly strawberry/chocolate flavored stuffing (which encompasses the dome too). Mummy expects the cone to be empty, but was actually completely full of the bubbly strawberry/chocolate filling.

Mummy finds the Caplico sticks so messy, the filling crumbles everywhere, and the wafer breaks off easily. She like throwing away all my "ice-cream".

:P

Are You Ready For Santa ?

SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN

You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

He's making a list
And checking it twice
Gonna find out
Who's naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!

Oh! You better watch out!
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

Santa Claus is coming to town !

Who is Your Pediatrician ?

A pediatrician is a doctor who specializes in the care of children.

Choosing a doctor for yourself is a very important decision. You don't want an idiot to take care of your health and well-being. I personally had a very bad experience with a dum-dum once and it was a really horrid experience.

All parents should co-operatively make a decision on their children's pediatrician. Here is an article about the importance of choosing a doctor for your kids: http://www.thechildrenshospital.org/about/doctor/choose.aspx

My current doctor is Uncle Dr. Lim ... I use to cry everytime I see him but of late, have grown fondly of him. He has rewarded me with a little vitamin every time I am a good girl at his clinic :)
Uncle Dr. Lim's clinic is called Kiddicare Child Specialist Centre.
