How Time Flies !

... to keep me at home (Papa will be promoting this book) :P

I have been staying at home for Papa for nearly 2 weeks now as my daycare had been closed for the year-end holidays. Mummy is just glad that i have grown as Papa has to eventually learn how to "manage" me ... they both have no choice ! Hah !
I have been naughty and have already broken my Papa's drinking glass (from Ikea) and today, i broke my Mummy's porcelain clock, a decorative piece (from Isreal). Thank God, Papa didn't wallop me. Mummy will be very (i use the word "very") upset if Papa ever wallops me ... but it is ok if Mummy were to wallop me herself ... hmmm, i wonder why ... talk about equality ?

Niways, I am enjoying the tail-end holidays of year 2007 ... Wah, soone another 365.4 days will be gone ... Cherrio !

Happy New Year Wishes to you all (in advance) !

2) Occasional
3) Compulsive
4) Harmful

Compulsive and Harmful ? No! No!

Hee, hee, hee, happy nose picking :P (i.e. if u r not caught by ur papa or mummy)

Drought

Water supply was cut from K Block 2 days ago ... at time of writing there is still no water ...

Residents have been cursing and swearing at the Management for poor maintenance. Boy, you should see how people carry water in buckets just to survive the past 2 days and we are entering Day 3 today ...

My poor papa also joined the crowd to get some water for the house. Thank God we could go to Granny's house which is nearby to shower and get some water ... else we will be like fish out of the water ...

At times like this, i really want to thank God for providing clean nice water in Malaysia ! Let's not waste ...

Why do you need a CAKE for your birthday ?

Oh well, i can't quite figure it out why there seems to be a need for a cake to commemorate a birthday ...

So i googled up history of birthday cakes - whalla http://www.tokenz.com/history-of-birthday-cake.html Apparently, it was believed that the tradition of Birthday cake started in Germany in Middle Ages where sweetened bread dough was given the shape of baby Jesus in swaddling cloth and was used to commemorate his birthday. Very interesting.

The website also comments about birthday candles, here you go - read more about it http://www.tokenz.com/birthday-candles.html

Well, its really another 12 Days to Christmas (from today) ... mummy, are we getting a cake for Jesus ?

Are you Frosty ?

"Frosty the Snowman" is a popular Christmas song written by Lexi & Jerry Rollins and Steve Nelson and recorded by Gene Autry and the Cass County Boys in 1950. (to find out more http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frosty_the_Snowman)

Everyone was trying to get a snapshot of "Christmas" at the Curve 2 weekends ago while the decorators were STILL putting up the place. As usual, mummy and papa being kiasu were trying to "get in"... but as i didnt like the weird settings and something pricked my fingers as i was trying to figure out what it was - i started crying "get me out of here !"

so, mummy and papa had to move away and i discovered - Frosty :) and enjoyed him all to myself ... yay

Why Another Period of Silence ?

Aiyaiyai ... it's been a long time passing ...

Ok, another revelation - I contacted the hand, foot and mouth disease about a week or so ago ...
what's hfm disease (here u go
http://www.sarawak.health.gov.my/hfmd.htm)

I don't know how i got it ... i was happy and chirpy on Thursday, 22 Nov at the daycare and then all of a sudden i woke up with a fever on the 23 Nov. Then it all started to go bad - my throat became very painful and highly sore and inflamed. My papa says i should stay in ... so, i stayed home with him on Friday.

Saturday, 24 Nov came and mummy took me to the doctor. He didnt say anything to her other than showing her how inflamed my throat was - i had to go on another dose of antibiotics.

Having said that, i was jolly playing with khor-khor ethan and cheh-cheh elise on Saturday evening (i.e. after taking the doctor's medicine - i was feeling a bit better) without knowing that danger of my exposing my saliva to them - i was heavily drooling - i remembered neng-ngu was kind enough to help me wipe off my drool.

Monday, 26 Nov came and i look quite ok to go back to daycare but the teachers were wary of me as they spotted some blisters on my soles - so mummy was rushed to take me back to doctor again. This time only, the doctor confirmed what i had as hfm disease !! And he did say that i most probably caught it on Monday/Tuesday, 19/20 Nov.

So, this started another round of tensions with the daycare "stigmatizing" me ! Sigh ... oh, well i had to stay at home this time with mummy for 1 whole week - niways, it was quite fun being pampered by mummy. But i have a gnawing feeling - who's the bludy culprit who passed me the virus ?

1 Dec - neng-ngu called to say he has the hfm disease - Ooophs ! I gave him the virus - sorry neng-ngu i didn't mean to :(

3 Dec - i finally went back to daycare.

Well, that had been an eventful week for me.

Mickey's + Minnie's Birthday

Do you know that last Saturday was Mickey's + Minnie's bithday ?

Too co-incidental hor - the two most important characters in Disney share the same birth date ? hee hee ...

i want to go visit them at Disneyland one day :D ... Mummy must start saving for me today onwards.

Congee

Ok my mummy has finally learnt how to prepare congee for me - i have been her guinea pig all these while - tasting all her many attempts ... uugh, uugh.

Now, she usually keeps to scallops + 1 vegetable (plus a spoonful of buckwheat + quinoa + millet). Mummy is now so good at congee making that the other day, the headmistress at my daycare stole some and shared it with another two kids.

Earlier, mummy gave me a mix of 3 veges and i couldn't keep it down ... i puked in my Yee-Yee's car, sorry Yee-Yee :( - Bad mummy !

Niways, i ought to be eating adult food now but i guess i can't yet as my neng-nging has highly cautioned mummy for me trying foods categorized as allergens ... furthermore, i am allergic to cow's milk ... oh well, let's see what's new in my menu ... ai ...

Come Christmas i dont even know if i can taste Christmas roast turkey :(

Isn't Dash Dashing ?

That's Dash from The Incredibles. http://www.pixar.com/featurefilms/incredibles/

Well, i aspired to be him last weekend :D ... alas, i was no superhero.

i did a 2 metre dash from the headrest of the bed to the other end and gave my mummy a heart attack ... well, she just moved away to close the bedroom door and as there were no pillows barricading me - ahh, i thought i tried a sprint.

My mummy caught me just in time before i landed on the floor and she gave a hard squeeze for trying such a stunt and gave me a good scolding after that for being so brazen.

hmmm ... what's the big deal anyway ?

Sharing Birthdays

I share the same birth date as my neng-nging which is 3 Nov :)

Isn't that an honor ?

And as i celebrate my no. 1 birthday, my neng-nging bought me my birthday cake - American chocolate cake ... yay !

Niways, if anyone wants to know what are the happenings of Nov. 3rd - here's something from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_3

Well, i just want to show off my cake :D ...

D-I-A-R-R-H-O-E-A

Uurrgh! I was down with diarrhoea last week - that's why I have not been blogging.

i had a bout of bad diarrhoea - and this time round it was not virual but bacterial caused.

i was virtually leaking for 3 days and had to be on a dose of antibiotics. The doctor had my poo-poo sent to the lab to testing and it came back as salmonella. You can read more about it from NetDoctor http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/health_advice/facts/salmonella.htm

Things became very worrisome for my mummy when i bled while leaking - and my Mummy got really upset and rushed me to a different doctor. Thank you Dr. Lim for giving me the correct medication.

Sigh ... and all that had to happen last week - just right before my big day ! Huumph !

Prayer for My Papa

A Student's Prayer - Jill Wolf

I ask you for your help, Lord
So that my papa will always know
How to be a better student
and to make his knowledge grow

Please give him understanding
so that he will clearly see
which lessons are important
and reveal the truth to him

May he have time to study
And improve his memory
So that he won’t forget the answers
No matter what the test may be

Let him always keep on learning
Even when the class is done
May he use his knowledge wisely
so it works for everyone

Papy is having his 1st exams this evening and i pray for him - Amen, Lord

Do You Have A Belly Button ?

I am truly amazed with the discovery of my belly button …

I am told that basically there are 2 types of belly buttons –
1) a protruding belly button or called an “outee”
2) an inward facing concaved bowl shaped belly button or called an “innee”

I have an innee which looks just like my papa – apparently our belly button type is determined genetically …

Surveys have been done worldwide to find out if there were more outees or innees – Wow !

So are outees smarter babies than innees ? Do tell me more ...

Giddy Up, Horsie

Giddy up, Giddy up

Do you know that –

1) you can ask a horse TO WALK – to walk is a "4-step gait" - the horse will move each leg in turn and place all 4 legs on the ground individually

2) you can also ask the horse TO TROT - the trot is a "2-step gait" - the horse will move its legs in pairs

3) you can also ask your horsie TO CANTER - the canter is a "3-time gait" - the horse will place one of its leg, then 2 together and then its remaining leg on the ground

Huh ! It's far too tough to image riding a REAL horse – I will just stick to a mechanical one :D

IQ vs EQ or Booksmart vs Streetsmart

See, see i have been given my first hardcover animal book (mind u, that is not my first book, ok !)

Sheesh, competition of the academics ... this is driving all mummies + papas into the wrong direction ...

Do you know that competitive academics would perpetually favor competitive behaviors far more than academics ? ... and what would this lead to ? Personal achievement being less important that the earned grade.

Aiiii ... but my mummy says she will let me explore my own interests and talents - and not let the world (which includes my Grandparents) dictate the direction i should be going - i hope she keeps her word on this.

Dear God, please help my mummy + papa raise me well. Amen.

I love 'em Pacifiers

That's me and my FIRST pacifier ... yum, yum, you can see that i love it :D
Currently, i am into my 3rd pair or sud it be 4th pair. My 1st pair was given to me by my nen-ngu + nen-nging, 2nd pair - papa bot, 3rd pair - mamah gave and 4th pair - mummy bot.
Avent is smart to sell their pacifiers in pairs !
Since i am so into pacifiers, i tot i betta read up about them - got this article from Mayo Clinic http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pacifiers/PR00067

The pros -
1) Some babies are happiest when they're sucking on something - check, applies for me
2) A pacifier offers temporary distraction, comes handy during jabs - aiya, Mummy sud learn this trick la
3) A pacifier helps baby go to sleep - check, applies for me
4) Pacifiers may help reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) - ooooh, i didn't know this and i dont think my mummy is aware of this too
5) Pacifiers are disposable, if baby prefers to suck on his/her thumb or fingers, it may be more difficult to break the habit - uncheck, does not apply

The cons -
1) Early pacifier use may interfere with breast-feeding - uncheck, does not apply
2) Baby may become dependent on the pacifier, if baby uses a pacifier to sleep, mummy may face frequent middle-of-the-night crying spells when the pacifier falls out of baby's mouth -check, applies for me - no wonder la
3) Pacifier use may increase the risk of middle ear infections - oooh, i didn't know this either
4) Prolonged pacifier use may lead to dental problems, if a child continues to use a pacifier persistently, his or her top front teeth may slant out or the upper and lower jaws may be misaligned - oooohhhhhh ... this is definitely a no no
Well, to all you babies out there - betta be informed
haiya, then again - while you are still indulged in sucking the pacifier, enjoy it la ! kah-kah-kah

Crying is Therapeutic

According to attachment theorists, John Bowlby and Margaret Ainsworth - crying is inborn attachment behavior which is primarily an appeal for the protective presence of a parent.

Coolquiz explains –
When we become upset, our brains and bodies overreact and work overtime thus causing chemicals and hormones to be produced. Crying helps eliminate these extra chemicals that we don't need.

The chemicals and hormones disappear from our body in the form of tears. As our tears flow, they sooth our sadness or distress by withdrawing these chemical agents.

This explains why people do feel calmer or more refreshed after crying - because the tears helped rid off these sad and distressed hormones.

I like this piece of blogging as I can now bring this is very good explanation to my mummy and explain to her my need to seek her attention ... :)

Cheers !

How Did I Get Tagged ?

Oh, Oh, how did i get tagged ?

I was really surprised to see that my blog site is being tagged ... huh, must be my nen-ngu who tagged me ... who else can be that resourceful ...

Hmm ... as my blog is now shown to a whole new community, then i might as well enjoy this unfounded windfall ... hee hee

It's nice to be in the limelight once in a while. ya ;)

Thank you, nen-ngu :D

My First Audible Word

Ok, i guess my first audible word is "bye"

My mummy heard me say it first ...

And then the next day, i said bye to my Granny and Grandpa in front of my papa - and they were proud of me :)

goodbye - a word with so much sentimental feelings behind it - yet it causes much anticipation of what is ahead ...

i like this quote from Richard Bach -
Don't be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetime, is certain for those who are friends.

Ciao

Peculiar Liking

I have a peculiar liking for paper ! There look at me chomp and chew on paper :)

I love paper of all sorts - from books, magazines, newspaper, cards, phamplets, flyers, bookmarks ...

My favourite is tissue paper ... its soft, flimsy, light and feels like melting in my mouth.

Yesterday, i tried something new - stickers ! But my papa pulled it out of my mouth ... so i can't really comment on its taste and texture

Anyways, just don't tell my Mummy about my chomping paper - she will not like it at all as she has caught me many times in "this" illegal act (according to her values) ... shhhhh

My Favourite Food

i am going to share about my favourite food - apparently it is banana :)

Mummy gives me organic banana - Cabana Banana from Healthy Times Baby Organic Food (http://www.healthytimes.com/htbabyfood.htm). They have a range of other flavors and recipes too. So far, my papa and mummy have given me the following -

01) Cabana Banana
02) Garden Fresh Carrots
03) Baby Sweet Peas – i don’t like this as it tastes very similar to my soya milk :-P'
04) Butternut Squash
05) Sweet Potatoes
06) Juicy Golden Pears – will be trying this soon
07) Pumpkin Pie – can’t remember if I tried this before but my mummy has 1 in stock
08) Sweet Potato with Apple
09) Island Fruit Jumble – will be trying this soon
10) Orchard Fruit Peekaboo – will be trying this soon
11) Tropical Fruit Medley
12) Sun-Sweet Strawberry Kiwi
13) Peach Banana Muesli
14) Little Veggie Stew
15) Harvest Time Vegetable Dinner
16) Raspberry Glazed Turkey – this 1 is a bit “suspicious” when I ate it

Yum, yum ...
Apparently organic food is not longer an option for consumption but slowly becoming a lifestyle trend ... but there are many other opinions which do not agree with this. My mummy gives me organic is because she wants me to start off well on a "right" footing this time round cos of that incident 8 months ago.

Well, whatever i m glad to eat my food and my Mah-Mah has reminded that we need to give thanks to God all the time for food laid on the table - organic or not !

I Am Starting My Own Blog

hello Everyone ... This is me - my Mummy and Papa's Little Girl :D

i turned 11 months yesterday and my Mummy says that it is time for me to start my own blog ...
Firstly, i want to thank God that i have grown.

Now i am taking on more solid foods - my mummy's giving me mainly vegetables - my Granny's giving me her home cooked porridge and my other Mah-Mah makes me fish porridge every Saturday - hooray for all that !

To share, i have come a long way since that incident nearly 8 months ago ... i will have to eventually share that in this blog - but for now, i am not sharing it.

I have been to the doctor's and my pediatric is happy with my progress though it will be a long term follow up according to her - nevertheless, my Pastor says that i have a big, great God and i am totally and wonderfully healed and restored to wholesomeness - Amen for that !

Cheers for another day !
