Do You Have A Belly Button ?

I am truly amazed with the discovery of my belly button …

I am told that basically there are 2 types of belly buttons –
1) a protruding belly button or called an “outee”
2) an inward facing concaved bowl shaped belly button or called an “innee”

I have an innee which looks just like my papa – apparently our belly button type is determined genetically …

Surveys have been done worldwide to find out if there were more outees or innees – Wow !

So are outees smarter babies than innees ? Do tell me more ...

Giddy Up, Horsie

Giddy up, Giddy up

Do you know that –

1) you can ask a horse TO WALK – to walk is a "4-step gait" - the horse will move each leg in turn and place all 4 legs on the ground individually

2) you can also ask the horse TO TROT - the trot is a "2-step gait" - the horse will move its legs in pairs

3) you can also ask your horsie TO CANTER - the canter is a "3-time gait" - the horse will place one of its leg, then 2 together and then its remaining leg on the ground

Huh ! It's far too tough to image riding a REAL horse – I will just stick to a mechanical one :D

IQ vs EQ or Booksmart vs Streetsmart

See, see i have been given my first hardcover animal book (mind u, that is not my first book, ok !)

Sheesh, competition of the academics ... this is driving all mummies + papas into the wrong direction ...

Do you know that competitive academics would perpetually favor competitive behaviors far more than academics ? ... and what would this lead to ? Personal achievement being less important that the earned grade.

Aiiii ... but my mummy says she will let me explore my own interests and talents - and not let the world (which includes my Grandparents) dictate the direction i should be going - i hope she keeps her word on this.

Dear God, please help my mummy + papa raise me well. Amen.

I love 'em Pacifiers

That's me and my FIRST pacifier ... yum, yum, you can see that i love it :D
Currently, i am into my 3rd pair or sud it be 4th pair. My 1st pair was given to me by my nen-ngu + nen-nging, 2nd pair - papa bot, 3rd pair - mamah gave and 4th pair - mummy bot.
Avent is smart to sell their pacifiers in pairs !
Since i am so into pacifiers, i tot i betta read up about them - got this article from Mayo Clinic http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pacifiers/PR00067

The pros -
1) Some babies are happiest when they're sucking on something - check, applies for me
2) A pacifier offers temporary distraction, comes handy during jabs - aiya, Mummy sud learn this trick la
3) A pacifier helps baby go to sleep - check, applies for me
4) Pacifiers may help reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) - ooooh, i didn't know this and i dont think my mummy is aware of this too
5) Pacifiers are disposable, if baby prefers to suck on his/her thumb or fingers, it may be more difficult to break the habit - uncheck, does not apply

The cons -
1) Early pacifier use may interfere with breast-feeding - uncheck, does not apply
2) Baby may become dependent on the pacifier, if baby uses a pacifier to sleep, mummy may face frequent middle-of-the-night crying spells when the pacifier falls out of baby's mouth -check, applies for me - no wonder la
3) Pacifier use may increase the risk of middle ear infections - oooh, i didn't know this either
4) Prolonged pacifier use may lead to dental problems, if a child continues to use a pacifier persistently, his or her top front teeth may slant out or the upper and lower jaws may be misaligned - oooohhhhhh ... this is definitely a no no
Well, to all you babies out there - betta be informed
haiya, then again - while you are still indulged in sucking the pacifier, enjoy it la ! kah-kah-kah

Crying is Therapeutic

According to attachment theorists, John Bowlby and Margaret Ainsworth - crying is inborn attachment behavior which is primarily an appeal for the protective presence of a parent.

Coolquiz explains –
When we become upset, our brains and bodies overreact and work overtime thus causing chemicals and hormones to be produced. Crying helps eliminate these extra chemicals that we don't need.

The chemicals and hormones disappear from our body in the form of tears. As our tears flow, they sooth our sadness or distress by withdrawing these chemical agents.

This explains why people do feel calmer or more refreshed after crying - because the tears helped rid off these sad and distressed hormones.

I like this piece of blogging as I can now bring this is very good explanation to my mummy and explain to her my need to seek her attention ... :)

Cheers !

How Did I Get Tagged ?

Oh, Oh, how did i get tagged ?

I was really surprised to see that my blog site is being tagged ... huh, must be my nen-ngu who tagged me ... who else can be that resourceful ...

Hmm ... as my blog is now shown to a whole new community, then i might as well enjoy this unfounded windfall ... hee hee

My First Audible Word

Ok, i guess my first audible word is "bye"

My mummy heard me say it first ...

And then the next day, i said bye to my Granny and Grandpa in front of my papa - and they were proud of me :)

goodbye - a word with so much sentimental feelings behind it - yet it causes much anticipation of what is ahead ...

i like this quote from Richard Bach -
Don't be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetime, is certain for those who are friends.

Ciao

Peculiar Liking

I have a peculiar liking for paper ! There look at me chomp and chew on paper :)

I love paper of all sorts - from books, magazines, newspaper, cards, phamplets, flyers, bookmarks ...

My favourite is tissue paper ... its soft, flimsy, light and feels like melting in my mouth.

Yesterday, i tried something new - stickers ! But my papa pulled it out of my mouth ... so i can't really comment on its taste and texture

Anyways, just don't tell my Mummy about my chomping paper - she will not like it at all as she has caught me many times in "this" illegal act (according to her values) ... shhhhh

My Favourite Food

i am going to share about my favourite food - apparently it is banana :)

Mummy gives me organic banana - Cabana Banana from Healthy Times Baby Organic Food (http://www.healthytimes.com/htbabyfood.htm). They have a range of other flavors and recipes too. So far, my papa and mummy have given me the following -

01) Cabana Banana
02) Garden Fresh Carrots
03) Baby Sweet Peas – i don’t like this as it tastes very similar to my soya milk :-P'
04) Butternut Squash
05) Sweet Potatoes
06) Juicy Golden Pears – will be trying this soon
07) Pumpkin Pie – can’t remember if I tried this before but my mummy has 1 in stock
08) Sweet Potato with Apple
09) Island Fruit Jumble – will be trying this soon
10) Orchard Fruit Peekaboo – will be trying this soon
11) Tropical Fruit Medley
12) Sun-Sweet Strawberry Kiwi
13) Peach Banana Muesli
14) Little Veggie Stew
15) Harvest Time Vegetable Dinner
16) Raspberry Glazed Turkey – this 1 is a bit “suspicious” when I ate it

Yum, yum ...
Apparently organic food is not longer an option for consumption but slowly becoming a lifestyle trend ... but there are many other opinions which do not agree with this. My mummy gives me organic is because she wants me to start off well on a "right" footing this time round cos of that incident 8 months ago.

Well, whatever i m glad to eat my food and my Mah-Mah has reminded that we need to give thanks to God all the time for food laid on the table - organic or not !

I Am Starting My Own Blog

hello Everyone ... This is me - my Mummy and Papa's Little Girl :D

i turned 11 months yesterday and my Mummy says that it is time for me to start my own blog ...
Firstly, i want to thank God that i have grown.

Now i am taking on more solid foods - my mummy's giving me mainly vegetables - my Granny's giving me her home cooked porridge and my other Mah-Mah makes me fish porridge every Saturday - hooray for all that !

To share, i have come a long way since that incident nearly 8 months ago ... i will have to eventually share that in this blog - but for now, i am not sharing it.

I have been to the doctor's and my pediatric is happy with my progress though it will be a long term follow up according to her - nevertheless, my Pastor says that i have a big, great God and i am totally and wonderfully healed and restored to wholesomeness - Amen for that !

Cheers for another day !
